A long-standing member of Nims and Mingma David’s climbing and guiding crew, Gelje is a supremely-talented mountaineer in his own right. In 2019, as the youngest member of Nims’ Project Possible climbing team, he summited eight of the 8,000ers in six months, at the age of just 26. Despite his youth, he’s highly experienced, having guided expeditions up Everest, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat and Gasherbrum I and II, always going the extra mile to help guests achieve their ambitions.
Hand-picked for the Elite Exped team by Nims and Mingma David, Gelje Sherpa has a particularly strong safety record, born of five years working as a “Khumbu Icefall Doctor”. This elite group of Sherpas are responsible for plotting and maintaining a safe route through the treacherous sea of ice at the foot of Mount Everest each season. In January 2021, he made history as part of the all-Nepalese team that became the first people ever to summit K2 in winter.
