Rising to 6,476m above sea level, Mera Peak, in Khumbu region of Nepal, is known as the gateway to Everest. From its summit, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views which take in five of the world’s highest mountains - Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and, of course, Everest. But it’s not just the views that give Mera its reputation. This relatively easy mountain is often the first Himalayan climbs that mountaineers tackle, paving the way for greater conquests in future.
What the adventure involves
Elite Exped’s record in the Himalayas speaks for itself. Our founder Nimsdai famously climbed all 14 of the world’s 8,000m peaks in record time during his Project Possible push in 2019. He was accompanied on most of these ascents by his friend and fellow partner Mingma David. The pair along with Mingma Tenzi then went on to become two of the first people ever to set foot on the summit of K2 in winter, in January 2021.
Most of the hand-picked guiding team that they’ve assembled for Elite Exped hail from the Himalayas, meaning that our collective knowledge of these mountains is second to none. This unparalleled experience makes us uniquely placed to introduce others to this range, and Mera Peak is one of the perfect places to do it.
